In this last issue of the year, I would like to take the opportunity to reflect on an exciting year in wound care for the APAC region.
In June, we published guidelines on Autolytic Continuous Debridement with a Focus on Biofilm Management: Consensus Document for the APAC Region, following a successful consensus meeting in Thailand.
The panel of experts in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region met in March 2024, in Bangkok, Thailand, to discuss the issues and challenges unique to the APAC region relating to autolytic continuous debridement with an onus placed on biofilm management. The consensus document represents the information and guidance agreed on by the expert panel. The aims and objectives of this document were:
- To provide a clear overview of the importance of debridement
- To provide guidance on debridement methods and techniques, and product selection in practice, with a focus on autolytic debridement
- To address challenges in practice and how effective debridement can be incorporated into practice in different patient groups and a variety of care settings
- To guide practice through a practical care pathway
- To identify gaps and potential needs for the future.

Then in October, we hosted the sixth Global Wound Conference in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This was our biggest event yet, with more delegates than ever, and an exciting and topical programme.
The programme included input from global societies including the World Union of Wound Healing Societies (WUWHS) and International Wound Infection Institute (IWII). There were educational sessions on advanced wound healing modalities and diabetic foot management.
With speakers gathered from all over the world, the conference above all represented a great opportunity for networking and learning from colleagues (as well as socialising!). We look forward to the next Global Wound Conference, which will take place in 2025.
With the WUWHS conference coming up in 2026, we are also delighted to announce that we will be launching a new sister journal next year. The Global Wound Care Journal will be the official journal of the WUWHS and is now open for submissions. There are no fees involved with submitting papers and all articles will be free to access, reaffirming our commitment to free wound care education for clinicians all over the globe.

I would like to take the opportunity to thank all of you for your support and hard work this year. I look forward to working together and more exciting projects in 2025!
