Conference season is upon us

Dear wound family, I sincerely hope you all are doing well and managing wounds with passion across the Asia Pacific region. Incidentally, there are 4.7 billion people in this region and so we certainly have our work cut out for us. We truly appreciate the great work that all the wound care professionals are doing day in and day out. Kudos to the unsung heroes of wound management.

We bring you another edition of the Wounds APAC journal which is open-access, allowing authors from across the region and beyond to be published free of charge, following a peer-review process.

In addition, we also bring you news about the various conferences across the Asia Pacific region with reference to wound management. We just finished attending the Wound Meeting in Seoul, Korea, where the Malaysian Society of Wound Care Professionals signed a historic Memorandum of Understanding with the Korean Wound Management Association, further strengthening the bond and collaboration between the two countries. It was truly a memorable occasion.

Next, we move to the picturesque island of Borneo in the city of Kuching, Sarawak, where the third D-foot International conference will be held from May 9th-10th. This year, the general assembly will be held on May 9th and the new board of D-foot International will take over for the next two years. I hope plenty of woundcare professionals will attend this event.

Subsequently, we have the wound conference organised by the Ho Chi Minh Wound Society in Vietnam on June 21st this year. Finally, in early July, we have the Asia Pacific Enterostomal Therapy Nurses Association (APETNA) 2025 meeting in Pulau Pinang, Malaysia.

The grand finale of the APAC wound care conference season will be the Asian Wound Care Association and the seventh Global Wound Care conference, which will be held from October 10th-12th, 2025, at the Sunway Pyramid Convention Centre in Kuala Lumpur. This conference will be the pre-World Union of Wound Healing Societies (WUWHS) conference  before the real thing takes place in Malaysia, held next year at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre from September 23rd–27th. This will be the ‘Wound Olympics’, which is held every four years.

I hope the Asia Pacific group and the healthcare professionals from the wound family will not miss this fabulous meeting and attend in hordes to show your support, and share your expertise and experience in the field of wound care. We truly appreciate all the support from your goodselves.

I also hope we can obtain more submissions from the continent to showcase the great contributions and the comprehensive and holistic work that your teams are doing in your respective regions and countries. We are always on the lookout for articles that highlight the work being undertaken in the region so please do send any submissions to [email protected].

Thank you and keep up the great work and momentum. Your patients and their families are truly lucky and blessed to have such passionate healthcare workers who put their health and wellbeing before anything else.

God bless
